SCM lifesciecne was established in 2014 based on its proprietary stratified culture method for stem cell isolation and stem cell therapy manufacturing technologies. It primarily focuses on the development of adult stem cell therapies, and has expanded into new business areas including the discovery of new candidates, the application of new technologies through tissue engineering, and the development of immunotherapy cancer treatments. As of the fourth quarter of 2023, the company has completed patient dosing in Phase 2 clinical trials for chronic GVHD, completed Phase 2 trials for moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis, and completed Phase 1/2a trials for moderate-to-severe acute pancreatitis.

SCM Lifesciences can isolate and culture high-purity stem cell lines using its original source technology, the Subfractionation Culturing Method. The development of induced pluripotent stem cell-derived pancreatic beta-cell treatment is being conducted in cooperation with Allele Biotechnology in the United States, and the development of muscle cell treatment is participating in the U.S. Vita Therapeutics as an equity investment.
